On May 13, 2020, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled to overturn the Safer at Home Order, with the exception of schools. At this time, Oconto County is not issuing an order to extend Safer at Home. However, our Health Officer continues to reserve the right and duty to take such action in the event that COVID-19 overwhelms our health care system or jeopardizes public health.

While the order has changed, the virus has not. COVID-19 spreads quickly and easily and it is present in Oconto County. Personal responsibility and accountability are essential in order to keep the risk of COVID-19 transmission low.

This document is intended to provide guidance for reopening businesses in Oconto County in the safest manner possible during this global pandemic. We commend you for the joint effort you have put forth so far in keeping our community safe. We have been in consultation with Oconto County Corp. Counsel, Oconto County Sheriff’s Department, Oconto County Emergency Management, and Oconto County Administration. We are aware that best practices may change over time, but as a department it is our goal to provide you with the needed resources to keep our county safe. We will re-assess these recommendations as the state conditions of COVID-19 change. Preparing now and following the below guidelines will help to provide healthier working environments for both employees and customers throughout Oconto County.
