Dedication of the Evergreen Cemetery Potter's Field Memorial

The Evergreen Cemetery Potter's Field Memorial is a project that has been over five years in the making. What began in 2017 as a dream to identify and recognize the people buried in unknown graves in the Evergreen Cemetery Potter's Field areas has become a reality. Through the generous contribution of time, talent, and funding from several local individuals and groups, a Memorial Plaza now sits at the original site of the nineteenth-century potter’s field. It includes a granite boulder with a bronze plaque of explanation and dedication and a 128 sq ft plaza made up of granite paver stones in which the names of 287 individuals buried there have been engraved along with the interment date of each. The purpose of this event is to recognize and thank the individuals and groups that helped to make this Potter's Field Memorial Plaza a reality. The Oconto County Historical Society is sponsoring this event.
