Leadership Oconto County

Leadership Oconto County is a program of the Oconto County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC). The goal of the leadership program is to build a pool of citizens with broad knowledge of the ideas, issues and concerns faced by our local communities. It is hoped that as the participants become aware of the challenges and the many existing resources they will take leadership and active participation roles in helping to meet those challenges. Participation in Leadership Oconto County is open to the general public living and working in and around Oconto County. Our participants represent a diverse perspective and variety of experience. The melding of individuals into a focused team over the year is a very rewarding experience.

Leadership Oconto County is a nine month (one day per month) program consisting of workships, seminars, discussions and tours. Each session will forcus on an issue in the community and an aspect of leadship development. Practical learning is emphasized - not a full day of lectures. Each participatnt will become involved in a community-based project - the laboratory part of learning.


The cost of Leadership Oconto County is $600 per person. The tuition covers the costs of all sessions including educational materials, meals and breaks, bus transportation on field trips and graduation. Limited scholarships are available based on financial need. Tuition is often paid by the participant's employer. Some of the employers expect individuals to personally contribute a percentage of the fee.


To graduate from Leadership Oconto County, a participant is expected to attend all sessions in their entirety including the orientation, all full-day sessions, and graduation. The sessions are held at various locations throughout Oconto County.
